Apple - Distinguished Schools
Apple Distinguished Schools
Apple Distinguished Schools and Programs around the world are recognized for innovation and educational excellence. Four of these are in LAUSD: Marquez Charter School, Maywood Elementary, Melrose Elementary MST Magnet, and West Hollywood Elementary. Although these schools use Apple products, their innovation and excellence are about practices, rather then products. Apple Education identifies five key attributes among the distinguished schools and programs:
- Visionary leadership (shared and individual, and involving community engagement)
- Innovative learning and teaching (personalized, innovative, rigorous)
- Ongoing professional learning (relevant, timely, inquiry-based, reflective)
- Compelling evidence of success (quantitative and qualitative)
- Flexible learning environment (facilities, schedules, and flexible ITI infrastructure)
Many Apple Distinguished Schools and Programs have created iBooks and other resources to share their experiences with transforming teaching and learning. The resources below can help schools see myriad possibilities!
