Practitioner Schools

The Practitioner School model of support aligns digital citizenship education with literacy instruction and social-emotional learning, integrating computer science education with numeracy across the curriculum by utilizing the International Society for Technology in Education Standards (ISTE) as a framework to enhance standards-based instruction to encourage and foster creativity, problem-solving, and learner agency.

The program consists of three levels, as detailed below:

  • Level 1: LAUSD NextGen. This level will entail completing an instructional technology cohort, where the sites will determine their respective requirements and develop a plan for introducing new technology to enhance student learning and engagement.

  • Level 2: LAUSD Future Ready. This level will focus on using technology to equip students with the necessary skills for the future, facilitated by an Instructional Technology Facilitator.

  • Level 3: LAUSD Demonstration Site. This level will feature District Models that exhibit future-ready teaching and learning practices, serving as an example for other schools to follow.
